Route 67 Bridge over Meramec River

The Missouri Department of Transportation needed to replace the 75-year old deteriorating bridge crossing the Meramec River. This new plate-girder design bridge not only required mid-river cofferdams, but it also called for several land bents. During the project we overcame difficult flooding conditions and met an aggressive schedule.

Details include:
• 47,000 lineal feet of H-Pile
• 11,000 cubic yards of substructure and structural deck concrete
• Underwater concrete placement
• 8 total cofferdams which consisted of 65,000 square feet of sheet piling
• 3 cofferdams placed within the flow of the Meramec River and 5 other land-based cofferdams
• Difficult high water and flooding conditions throughout entire project
• 100,000 yards of imported fill
• Aggressive schedule required night shifts
• Night pile driving
• Complete realighment of Highway 61-67, while maintaining existing traffic flows
